From Miyako Airport or Shimojishima Airport to driving off in your Luana Rent a Car takes three steps: meet our staff holding a sign in the arrivals lobby, take the free shuttle to the store, and check your licence and the car before departure. No separate shuttle booking is needed; just give us your flight number when you book the car.
From Miyako Airport
- Collect your bags and go to the arrivals lobbyThe arrivals lobby is just past the baggage claim. A staff member holding our sign will be waiting. If you cannot find us, call 0980-38-9846.
- Shuttle to the storeThe Miyakojima store is across the street from Miyako Post Office, about 8 minutes from the airport.
- Contract and vehicle checkWe check the original driving licences of everyone who will drive and fill in the rental agreement. Then we check the car for existing damage and go over the navigation, Bluetooth and child seats together.

From Shimojishima Airport
Shimojishima Airport (Irabu, Miyakojima City) is connected to the main island of Miyakojima by Irabu Bridge. There is a single terminal; for both domestic and international flights we meet you beside the pillar just outside the arrivals exit. Please tell us your flight number when you book. The shuttle to the store across Irabu Bridge takes about 25 minutes.
From Hirara Port
If you arrive by ferry or cruise ship, we meet you at the port at your arrival time. Please tell us the name of your ship and its arrival time when you book.
What to bring
- The original driving licence of everyone who may drive
- Visitors from outside Japan: an International Driving Permit (1949 Geneva Convention), or a licence from Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco or Taiwan with an authorised Japanese translation, plus your passport
- Payment for anything due at the store (cash, credit card, or contactless by smartphone or card)
Returning and getting to the airport
Return by 18:00; the last shuttle to Miyako Airport is at 17:45. Returning about two hours before your flight leaves plenty of time, including moving your luggage. No need to refuel before returning; see No need to refuel.
